Part 1 Initial Response

The videos helped me understand better the responsibility placed on the shoulder of an accountant in managing the books of accounts of any venture using excel and QuickBooks. This course has helped me to appreciate the role excel can play in helping an accountant including myself to prepare books of accounts with ease (Bressler, & Bressler, 2006). Also ability to draw conclusions using the organized Excel template as you benchmark different accounting periods. Through using Excel and QuickBooks, I have learned critical thinking skills, analyzing reports and creating accounts. Critical thinking comes especially in QuickBooks since you customize it to create different accounting reports related to a certain aspects of business such as sales invoice and schedule. Excel provide a good platform to analyze reports after computation of accounting ratios for different financial periods. I look forward to using the skills learned in my current working station to better develop a strong and robust accounting department.

Hello Gail. I agree that the class gave you the knowledge to understand excel even if you don’t use it in your current job. It is also great to know that the class has equipped you with the QuickBooks skills you have been waiting to learn for a long time. Also, it is true that both Excel and QuickBooks help you as an accountant to create excel spreadsheets faster, templates and chart (Lee, Kerler,& Ivancevich, 2018). Further, your sentiments that QuickBooks help accountants to manage sales data is perfectly correct. The application of the skills set gained in class will make them more ingrained in your mind and useful to you as an accountant.
