The cognate I chose is Next Generation Ministry. Describe why you chose it. The reason I chose Next Generation Ministry is because I have a passion for the spiritual development of young people. Being a youth minister has afforded me the opportunity to pour into the lives of young people. I strive to ensure that they have a solid biblical foundation and that they know that they are needed in the Kingdom of God as well as our natural societies.

  1. What is the Micro-Project you have chosen? Describe why you chose it.

The Micro-Project I have selected is Book Reviews. Book reviews can benefit the Next Generation ministry. In addition to edvaluating the academic merit of the scholarly work, good reviews tell the academic community where the work rests within the broader academic canon. Book reviews aid the cognate separate weak work from more trustworthy contributions. Book reviews are also important to the scholarly community and academic publishing. A publication of book reviews provides readers with an idea of which books will be valuable in the classroom, in their personal edification or own scholarship.

  1. What is the problem in your ministry area you are seeking to resolve? Begin your answer with this sentence: “The problem I am seeking to resolve is that…”

The problem I am seeking to resolve is that of adolescent faith formation, “Identity finding and the Image of God.”

  1. How does your choice of micro-project align with your DMIN cognate?

Writing book reviews can help me understand the Next Generation ministry and its inherent trends, opportunities, challenges and problems. Doing reviews will expose me to Next Generation ministry, learn more about spiritual development during adolescence, and how youth find their identity versus Image of God. Adolescents seek answers to existential questions such as Who am I? What is the meaning of life? What is my purpose in life?

  1. How does your choice of micro-project align with scripture? Give specific examples.

Searching and evaluating literature on adolescent faith formation can help me understand how adolescents find identity. Works that make direct reference to the Bible or supported by biblical texts make strong appeals and are likely to be used in the cognate. Many think identity is found in pleasure, relationships, earthly possessions, culture, doing noble causes, academic and achievements. But the Bible teaches tha true identity is found in Christ. Man is created in the Image of god and since the fall he has struggled with a sense of self. But now men find their identities in their union of Christ. Youth suffer from identity crisis and are continuously asking Who am I? The Bible teaches that one finds spiritual identity by having a right standing with God in Christ.

  1. How does your choice of micro-project align with your abilities, passions, and interests?

My passion is to hone my writing skills and develop the skills of evaluating projects and programs. Writing book reviews is a valuable way to become a specialist in writing. Doing reviews also can help me get some ideas. Book reviews can help me sharpen my writing and develop my ideas. Book reviews can help me develop the skill of evaluating huge amounts of projects, programs and research (Obeng-Odoom, 2014).

  1. Summarize in your own words the assignment instructions for all four phases of your chosen Micro-Project.

In organizational phase, I will do and submit a 2-page report of two peer-reviewed journals. The review should include the mission statement, history, managing editor and numbrr of issues per year of each journal article. In addition, I should identify 1 or 2 books published in the past 1 year.  Elaborate phase involves explaining in detail what editorial requirements of these two journals are based on their websites and how to submit a review. I will also do a 2-page summary of the two books and demonstrate how both these journals and books relate to the Next generation ministyry. I am required to submit my reviews to the journals and present a proof of my submission to the instructor in the implementation phase. I must also post the two book reviews in the assignment link plus the cop of my cover letters. The culmination phase includes four requirements: the two book reviews, deep reflection of the two books, the process of writing book review and justification of how book review process will help toward resolution of identity formation versus Image of God in adolescent faith formation.

  1. How have you planned to complete each of the Micro-Project phases on time? I have identified the all tasks to be completed and their timelines. Therefore, I have created  a work schedule to help me allocate enough time for each phase and task. The schedule could help know when to start and complrte each task. I have also created a project completion process to ensure each task is on schedule and meets the requirements.
  2. What is your greatest reservation or question regarding this selected micro-project?

I am yet to write a scholarly work of my own or involved in the research leading to the publication of an rticle.  I understand that reviewing a scholarly work, especially when I am not  an expert, professor,  journal editor or a peer in a study group, can be a challenging task. But for this project I am going to pretend to be an expert and rely on my careful observations to make reasoned opinions and judments.

Discussion Thread: A Defensible Micro-Project Peer Review (300 words)

As a Doctor of Ministry student here at Liberty, the cognate I chose to pursue is Next Generation Ministry. The problem I seek to resolve is that of Adolescent faith formation regarding “Identity finding versus the Image of God.”

My Micro Project is Book Reviews. The rewened interest in the topic of adolescent faith formation as pertains to identity finding versus the Image of God has seen many articles published. For this reason, I have chosen to do reviews of some of these works.book review is a living space for ideas and opinions.  Book reviews benefits academic community and readers (Addis, 2019). Doing review forces one to critically read the entire work, a practice that one might not be able handle in today’s busy academic schedule, albeit doing so help the reviewer to get more of the work. In addition, creating a documentation of the main themes discussed in the work is helpful for future reference and study. Moreover, writing reviews will help me to improve my research skills as I learn how others evaluate and synthesize evidence.  Book reviews are not praise statements but evaluate commentaries in which reviewers showcase their knowledge of the works, where these works stand in the literature and what inputs they make (Obeng-Odoom, 2014). In academic writing, book reviews help make an argument. Because reviews are a commentary rather than a summary, the reviewer is ablew to enter into discussion and dialogue with the creator of the work and readers. The reviewer is able to provide disagreement or agreement by identifying where the work is deficient or exmplerary in its knowledge and jugments.

Book review help save readers time by letting them know whether a particle scholarship is worth their time. It is impossible to read all works published with the Next Generation ministry because of the voluminous literature that exist. Book reviews is one of the easiest ways to digest voluminous literature in the abridged form (Obeng-Odoom, 2014). Readers and other scholars have many other obligations and duties that demand their time and therefore, book reviews help them remain updated in the literature without necessarily having to go through each work in detail.
