Professional Journal and Nursing or Health Care Conference- Why the Best Option Choices

In nursing, it is necessary for researchers to ensure that they disseminate the results of their evidence-based practice (EBP) projects. The process helps to increase the knowledge base of the healthcare organization as the research findings are used in making important clinical decisions (Edwards, 2015). This is important for improvement of patient outcomes. EBP results can be presented using either through a healthcare conference or a professional journal (Edwards, 2015; Polit & Beck, 2020). This helps to ensure that this information is disseminated to policy makers, government representatives, and other stakeholders. The presentation enables the targeted parties to understand how the recommendations of the findings can be used for successful project implementation.

One of the journals that can be used to present the current project findings is the Journal of Health Care for the Poor and Underserved (JHCPU). This is a peer reviewed journal that mainly focuses on the healthcare issues of the populations that are medically underserved (Johns Hopkins University Press, 2020). The journal deals with diverse topics, including healthcare services access, cost, quality safety and legislations, disease prevention, and health promotion. It welcomes articles based on the underserved communities living in North and Central America, Sub-Saharan Africa, and other parts of the world. Some of the major articles published in the journal include research papers, literature reviews, government reports, and policy analyses (Johns Hopkins University Press, 2020).

The choice of the JHCPU is the best option for various reasons. To begin with, the goal of the proposed project is to improve the health of marginalized groups. Marginalized groups are part of the underserved populations (Western Institute of Nursing, 2016; Baah et al., 2019). The project aims at implementing effective initiatives that can lead to disease control and prevention among the marginalized populations. Disease prevention is one of the aspects addressed by the journal. It is also important to note that JHCPU is a peer reviewed journal. This means that most of the information published in the journal is reliable and credible.

On its part, the appropriate healthcare conference through which the projects results can be presented is the Association of Clinicians for the Underserved (ACU). This is a transdisciplinary network that unites clinicians, organizations, and advocates concerned with the improvement of the health equity of the underserved (ACU, 2020). The organization provides professional training and technical assistance to many clinicians. This is usually effected through conferences that are organized annually. This year’s conference will be held at Mandarin Oriental of the Washington, D.C., in the United States. It will take place between October 31 and November 2, of the year 2021. Its theme is “Health Equity” (ACU, 2020). This theme demonstrates the importance of eliminating health disparities that lead to poor health among racial minorities, and the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, (questioning), intersex, asexual, and (agender) (LGBTQIA) group.

There are some important reasons as to why ACU is regarded as the best option. To start with, the organization trains clinicians on important issues affecting the populations considered to be underserved. This makes it a suitable platform for dissemination of research findings on how to address the issue of high prevalence of diseases among marginalized groups. The organizations hold annual conferences. The conference of this year is yet to be held. This means that the project results shall be disseminated at the right time. Additionally, the theme of this year’s conference is relevant to the proposed change project. As a result, it will be of great benefit to the various marginalized groups that the project targets.
