Osteoporosis

Some alternative exercises for individuals who have osteoporosis and arthritis but are unable to do everyday tasks include those exercises that are less impactful to avoid painful joints or hurts bones. Any exercise that does not involve concentrating weight on joints is good for osteoporosis and arthritis. The alternative exercises include walking in water, swimming, light dancing, water aerobics, and light weight lifting while positioning body joints against gravity. An exercise in water, hydrotherapy, can be explored by persons who have arthritis or osteoporosis because it gives one less difficulty in supporting body weight as he or she performs the muscle-strengthening exercise. Water supports body weight as an individual exercise. It is important to note that while arthritis causes tenderness of swelling in joints, osteoporosis causes the thinning of ligaments in joints, resulting in the roughness of joints that end up causing pain when a person moves around (Matzkin, DeMaio,  Charles & Franklin, 2019). Exercising is vital in helping to ease the pain.

Dancing helps a person to exercise various parts of the body without much struggle. This type of exercise gives individuals much freedom to choose the rhythm by which to dance, whether to shake the torso, head, arms, limbs, or other parts of the body. One can still dance while seated, sleeping, or standing. Arthritis and osteoporosis are all joint-based health issues that cause pain in joints. The two diseases require that an individual engages in light exercises that do not exert much pressure on joints. Exercise slowly down the severity of either of the two diseases (Johnson, 2020). In this respect, persons who have arthritis or osteoporosis can be advised to perform the same exercises as part of their physiotherapy and general treatment.
