First Health’s Moore Regional Medical Center is a 402-bed, acute care, not-for-profit hospital in Pinehurst, North Carolina (FirstHealth of the Carolinas, n.d). It provides specialty and primary care to Carolinas in 15 counties.  MRMC started in 1929 with just 33 beds, 27 medical staff and five bassinets. Since it, it has expanded to include 287 physicians, 2700 professional staff, and more than 900 volunteers (FirstHealth of the Carolinas, n.d). Today, MRMC provides comprehensive array of healthcare services to people within a 15-county region. It has received many accolades and awards for excellent patient safety, and patient experience.

Qualifications

The new hired AA RNs must have at least associate’ degree, diploma in nursing, or Bachelor of Science in Nursing plus licensure. New AA RNs must be ready to complete an 8-week internship course as a prerequisite for hiring. In addition, they must be ready to pursue an RN to BSN to sustain employment beyond five years.

License requirements

In addition to ADN, diploma in nursing, or BSN qualification, the newly hired RNs must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) (Institute of Medicine, 2011). A proof of RN licensure is mandatory.

Assignment following successful completion

After successful completion, BSN RNs will have the necessary competencies in arenas such as healthcare financing, health policy, leadership, system thinking, and quality improvement (Institute of Medicine, 2011).
