Award Presentation Speech: Maria Brizzi Giorgi

Ladies and gentlemen, tonight we are here for a purpose. We have gathered here to celebrate women’s success in music. They say that what a man can do, a woman can do better. We can all agree that in the past, the music industry has not been so welcoming to female artists. Many have been discriminated against, and have not been given a chance to fully exploit their talents. Despite these challenges, some female musicians have become mirrors of their detractors by doing the unexpected in the world of music. One of such musicians is our own Maria Brizzi Giorgi.

Maria is a talented pianist, organist, and composer of music who is famous for improvisational ability. She has starred in public since her early ages. It is on record that she started performing at the age of thirteen (Colonial Sense, 2021). This is perhaps due to the fact that Maria was born in a musical family. Her two brothers are great musicians too. Maria has performed in many parts of Europe. Her military march that was recently performed in front of Napoleon demonstrates her composing ability (Oxford Music Online, 2021). It is also important to note that her exceptional talents have seen famous musicians like Leopold Kozeluch and Muzio Clement dedicating some of their works to her.

Let me conclude that as we are all aware, music is able to change the world. I encourage all female artists here that it is your time to shine and let the entire world know that women can make it in music. To Maria, I say congratulations for this award.
