The purpose of this paper is to describe the controversies associated with the use of Quetiapine in the treatment of depression and anxiety. Quetiapine is an example of antipsychotic drugs.

Although Quetiapine l is not approved for use among patients with anxiety and depressive disorders, some psychiatrists prescribe it for the conditions. Research work shows that the use of the drug for the treatment of such psychotic disorders is associated with some controversies, including increased involvement in physical activity and enhancement of cognitive functioning (Huthwaite et al., 2018; Schneider-Thoma et al., 2018). Studying the controversies associated with unapproved use of antipsychotic drugs in treating certain psychotic symptoms is important for psychiatrists, psychologists, healthcare workers, social workers, and other professionals. It enables them to comprehend both the benefits and harmful effects of such uses.

Quetiapine is approved for the treatment of mental or mood conditions like bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and mania episodes (Huthwaite et al., 2018). The current study will help me to learn more about other uses of the drug. It will enable me to understand the effectiveness of using Quetiapine to treat depression, anxiety, and other conditions for which it is yet to be approved. The study will also help me to understand whether the unapproved use of the drug is associated with any side effects.
