The intensive group registered an increase in the intake of dairy products, vitamin D, Iodine and calcium compared to the usual care group. A combination of lifestyle intervention and nutrition education tended to improve dietary diversity. Dietary recommendations for children who are overweight and obese are based on sufficient proteins, minerals and vitamins. Mild calorie restriction in children and adolescents are safe and effective.
